In my last column, I called for Virginia Tech to axe quarterback Marcus Vick because of his ridiculous conduct in the Gator Bowl. On Friday, they did just that.
To refresh your memory, Vick stomped on an opposing defensive end’s leg after a play was over. For some reason, he was not flagged for the foul, but everybody in the stadium and in the television audience saw the flagrant act.
If this was the first run-in Vick would have had on or off the field, he probably would have gotten probation or a mere warning. However, the bum has been a constant discipline problem, including trouble with the law. Most recently, he was charged with speeding while driving with a suspended license. Role model, indeed!
So, I guess the VaTech administration just got tired of all the negative publicity. Clearly, warnings and minor disciplinary actions do not faze this lad. Is this dismissal going to be the lesson that Vick needs to grow up and behave like a man? I don’t think so.
I now have to wonder whether anyone will want Vick. He’s only a junior. Being 21, it might be appropriate for him to enter the NFL draft. It would serve him right if no one drafted his obnoxious ass.

There are too many good quarterbacks in the draft this year to take a chance on a chronic scofflaw like Vick. It would serve him right if there was little interest in this walking, talking discipline problem. […]
