PS UNCLE says
who was dj dozier
The Nittany Turkey says
PS UNCLE is not only absolutely correct but also in the best Jeopardy tradition, phrased his answer in the form of a question. Congratulations, Uncle, for being the first with the correct response.
D.J. Dozier was drafted by the Detroit Tigers, but he decided to attend Penn State instead. After his successful career as a Penn State tailback, he played for the NFL Minnesota Vikings for five years. In 1990, during his stint with the Vikes, D.J. was signed as a free agent by the New York Mets organization. He eventually was called up to the Majors in 1992, when he played 25 games for the Mets. At year-end he figured in the trade for Tony Fernandez, and he never played Major League ball again.
So, here’s an easy follow-up question. We all know that Dozier’s uniform number at Penn State was 42. What was his number with the Mets?
James says
7
The Nittany Turkey says
James is absolutely correct. DJ’s New York Mets pinstripes bore lucky number seven.
Thanks for taking this nostalgia trip with the Turkey!
