As promised, this is a follow-up to my previous posts about the arduous process of finding a new doctor. I have found one and I had my first appointment with him. As I expected, there are good things and not-so-good things. The anticipation was running high, because I had waited one full month from the time I scheduled the appointment. Must be a popular doc, I thought.

Mythical America: Dobson, Jesus and the Thorn in Our Side
James C. Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, an influential fundamentalist Christian organization, says he is “deeply disappointed in President Bush and Congressional Republicans” for “betraying social conservatives.” Dobson and others of his ilk want the current administration to come out more strongly against abortion, gay rights and immigration. They have strong opinions on what should be done to shape the culture of the United States. They base their opinions on the fact that they are Christians. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Take My Phone Bill—Please!
A recent piece in USA Today (operating as the marketing wing of the Democratic National Committee) suggested that our “civil liberties” are being endangered by President Bush, as usual, because the National Security Agency is collecting telephone records of ordinary citizens like you and me. Almost instantly, the anti-Bush national media machine joined Democrat opportunists in seizing yet another bogus opportunity to throw a hissy fit of mock outrage designed to inflame the populist sensitivities of ordinary citizens, just like you and me (voters, in other words).
