Yesterday, I wrote about LaVar Arrington’s departure from the Washington Redskins. Today’s story concerns his Nittany Lion teammate, Courtney Brown, who will be remaining with the Denver Broncos for a long time.
The Denver Post reported today that Brown, 28, and the Broncos had agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in Denver through the 2009 season. While Courtney’s salary is a big hit against the NFL salary cap for the Broncos, his 2005 performance inspired Denver management to protect him.
Prior to moving to the Broncos, Brown had languished with the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him #1 overall in 2000. (Arrington was drafted #2 overall by the Redskins in that same year.) Courtney never had a healthy season in his five years with the Browns. However, as of his 2005 season with Denver, he has finally blossomed into the defensive lineman that every Penn State fan knew he could be.
