David Duffy of ESPN.com writes a feature called The Bottom 10, highlighting the worst 10 performing teams in what is formerly known as Division I-A. Well, thanks to the crappy performances by Michigan and Notre Dame this week, Penn State opponents occupy fully half of Duffy’s Bottom 10. The five are FIU (#1), Michigan (#5), Buffalo (#8), Temple (#9), and Notre Dame (#10). Read Duffy’s whimsical column here.

Nittany Lions in the NFL
OK, so now that rosters are pretty much set for the season, I’m pleased to present the following former Nittany Lions who have roster spots in the vaunted National Football League (years of NFL experience in parentheses):
Anthony Adams (5) comes over from the San Francisco 49ers to join John Gilmore (6) and Robbie Gould (3) on the Chicago Bears.
Jay Alford (R) and Kareem McKenzie (7) are both New York Giants.
Kyle Brady (13) is looking for a Super Bowl Ring, joining a talent laden New England Patriots squad.
Top draft pick Levi Brown (R) will be starting at right tackle for the Arizona Cardinals, where Bryant Johnson (5) is still catching passes.
The venerable Kerry Collins (13) will continue to back up and mentor Vince young for the Tennessee Titans, where Calvin Lowrey (2) is a free safety.
Fast Eddie Drummond (6) moves from the Detroit Lions to the Kansas City Chiefs, joining Tamba Hali (2) and Larry Johnson (5).
Bobby Engram (12) is still hanging in there with the Seattle Seahawks.
Tony Hunt (R) will see short-yardage duty with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Ed Johnson (R) is a surprise starter with the Indianapolis Colts.
Back home with the Cleveland Browns is Joe Jurevicius (10).
Ethan Kilmer (2) and Kenny Watson (6) have a home with the Cincinnati Bengals.
David Macklin (8) comes back east with the Washington Redskins.
Sean McHugh (2) will be playing tight end for the hapless team president Matt Millen (30-um, just kidding) of the Detroit Lions.
Paul Posluszny (R) looked tough in the pre-season with the Buffalo Bills.
Michael Robinson (2) is kind of a third-down back with the San Francisco 49ers.
Tim Shaw (R) joins the Carolina Panthers.
Tony Stewart (7) moves west, where he’ll play for the Oakland Raiders.
Disappearing from NFL rosters this year are: LaVar Arrington, Courtney Brown, Jeff Hartings, Tyoka Jackson, Bhawoe Jue, Jimmy Kennedy, Shawn Mayer, Anwar Phillips, Marco Rivera, Bryan Scott, Brandon Short, and Alan Zemaitis.
Cut-Down Saturday Farewells
Two notable PSU alumni were among those NFL players who were asked to go to the coach’s office with their playbooks in hand. Anwar Phillips and Alan Zemaitis, both cornerbacks, were cut by the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, respectively. Both players had been selected in the 2006 NFL Draft. The Turkey wishes them well in whatever ventures they choose in the future.
