Joe, stating that he doesn’t know whether he could handle four hours of standing on the sideline, announced that his plan is to coach the Rose Bowl from the booth. He also stated that he felt that his presence on the sideline would be a distraction.

Well Turkey– post game I read your pre-game and you nailed it on the head. We did not execute. We did not pressure Sanchez. Their receivers and a good passing QB torched us. One thing is for sure, this whole season PSU never played a QB like Sanchez and I think it showed. Our secondary was third rate and I didn’t know it until we went up against a team whose QB could make the “throws” every time. We lost and they are significantly better than we are.
Watching USC execute tonight — you now understand how stupid the BCS system is–USC could play with the anyone in the Country and would win at least 5 out of 5 games against them (especially on their home field). I think PSU could play with anyone except a select few — USC, Oklahoma, Florida–although I am suspect of Florida but we shall see. (USC must have played the world’s worst game against Oregon St. My guess is the receiving corps must have been drunk at the game to lose to OSU– but I digress).
I do note that I was not necessarily disappointed or angered by the coaching other than I hoped for a little Paterno magic. He had none, but I think his team gave all it could –except for stupid costly penalties. The defense did all it could with what it had which apparently was a suspect secondary against all world college receivers — the offense without Royster is not the offense we want — but truly great teams (like USC) just move right through such adversity. PSU is a very good team. Not a great one.
Finally, before we bash the Big Ten — let’s imagine they don’t get two teams in the BCS bowls and everyone shifts down. PSU loses the Rose Bowl — but does Georgia beat Ohio St — I don’t think so. Does Michigan St. beat South Carolina — I think so. Does Iowa then beat whoever it plays in those terrible ridiculous second rate bowls– yes. Does that leave Minn. Wisc. more evenly matched — yes. Basically, it changes the whole dynamic. Did you see the PAC-10s ridiculous matchups? I think they played one team I thought was pretty good Oklahoma State– the rest are Pitt or worse in their ability (and this just in Pitt stinks and was overrated– sorry the truth hurts). Again I digress
Sad to see another season go — there is always next year.

Excellent comments, as usual, psurule4. You maintain your objectivity while others remain in denial.
See my post mortem post for more comments.
Now, without the Rose Bowl in the way, we can start talking about the usual kind of crap. Who will be the first blogger to suggest that Newsome should start instead of Clark? I’m taking odds!
Happy New Year to you and yours, psurule4!
