Another day at Turnberry would surely wear the old fella down after having been tied for second place with a first round 65, right? It didn’t. Tom Watson carded a 70, which at the close of the second day of tournament competition was good enough to tie him for the lead.
Sharing the lead was relatively unknown American Steve Marino, who coupled a 68 today with an opening round 67.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods is flirting with the cut, having shot a miserable (for him) 71-74.
This Turkey is, of course, rooting for the old guy. Can he hold up over the weekend competition? That would be great, but kudos to Mr. Watson for his performance thus far.
