Greetings and good evening from the world of the Turkey, where the balmy southeast breezes make winter a prime attraction. We are in need of one of those Penn State “quick hit” things, which means that this Turkey is too lazy to fill out frameworks of stories himself. We’ll just point you at places where they’ve already been written and published.
I’ve already mentioned in a prior post that President Rod Erickson would be leaving in 2014. Has he had enough already? Just kidding. He had removed the “interim” from his title but is now sewing it back into his official Penn State bowling shirt’s embroidered name. His contract ends June 30, 2014. The Post Gazette fills in the rest for you.

It was reported today that Penn State’s former athletic director, Tim Curley, currently on administrative leave awaiting trial for perjury in connection with the Jerry Sandusky case, has been diagnosed with recurring lung cancer. Part of one lung had been removed in 2010. As you know, Curley’s ostensible former boss, Joe Paterno, has been battling lung cancer himself since November. PennLive.com has the rest for you.

Speaking of Rod Erickson, Tom Flynn has some scathing things to say about his stonewalling attempts to maintain ties to the past. Check it out at PennLive.com.

The NCAA investigation of Penn State continues apace. The main issue is whether Penn State exerted proper “institutional control” over its athletic programs, as per the NCAA constitution. Read about it in USA Today.

Former Nittany Lion Adam Taliaferro is running for Penn State Board of Trustees. Read about it.

A group of Penn State alums is pushing for change on the BOT. Unhappy with the way head coaching legend Joe Paterno was ousted, the group seeks to exert influence over filling three open seats on the Penn State Board of Trustees. The Wall Street Journal reports here.
That’ll do it for now. More quick hits as they occur and as we figure out what they are. In the meanwhile, stay tuned.
