Silas Redd is being courted by USC, says ESPN. This is just the start of the looting process that will decimate Penn State’s football team.
There are no penalties for players who want to transfer to other programs, per the NCAA sanctions handed down from on high yesterday.
USC isn’t the only school interested in Redd.
Coach O’Brien has told all his players that they’ll still be playing and they’ll still be televised. That’s about all he can say. He can’t promise them bowls or championships or even that the guy standing next to them will be enrolled in the fall.

But perhaps he can offer them a chance to get their picture taken with Giselle!

Or for some of them, maybe the naked Gronk from the cover of last week’s ESPN, The Magazine.
Have to be politically correct in this wacky world.

Probably the only certainty is that Robert Bolden won’t be transferring to a Division 1 school. Or even a good PSAC school.
Which reminds me, there are some non conference openings on the 2014-16 schedules. I wonder if Kutztown or Bloomsburg would be interested.

I think the MIT Beavers would be a cool opponent. Yeah, they’re Division III, but …

Joking aside, I have serious questions that you may be able to answer.
When does the 65 scholarship maximum take effect?? Doesn’t PSU have more than 65 players on scholarship right now?
If the limit is immediately effective, does O’Brien have to kick some players off the team? Or did Emmert reserve the right to select the (best) players for removal.
The Nittany Turkey says
They have an extra year to get down to 65, as it takes effect in the 2014-2015 season and extends to the end of the 2017-2018 season.
On the other hand, the reduction in initiated scholarships to a maximum of 15 begins 2013-2014 and extends through 2016-2017.
So, this crap will be plaguing us a lot longer than four years.
