So, what did you all think of UCF’s performance against Steve Superior’s boys today? They lost 28-25, but they demolished the spread while turning a few heads. Any comments?
Bortles looked pretty good, albeit against a purportedly weak secondary. His line was 25-36 for 358 yards, 2 INTs and 2 TDs. His receivers were outstanding, and this here turkey’s opinion is that Bortles looks even more like a pro prospect. He is a natural in the pocket.
On the rushing side, the Stormster was effectively corralled, able to generate only 68 yards.
UCF got off to a quick start, as they did in our game, discombobulating the Gamecock defense. Spurrier’s halftime adjustments, probably in the form of a large foot up a bunch of asses, worked to prove that there was life in the defense after all, and even missing its star QB, was able to effectively move the ball on offense, winding up with 490 total yards. Once the Cocks got rolling, they were able to put 28 unanswered points on the board, but they got sloppy in the fourth quarter, allowing UCF to get back into the game. An interception of a rushed throw by Bortles ended UCF’s big chance, and the ensuing onside kick failed.
So, whattya think?

They are good and Bortles is everything I thought he was after his day at the Beav after his performance against the ‘Cocks. They should run through their conference schedule (whatever it’s called today) like a hot knife through butter. Think you’ll take in one of their home games?
On a separate not, talk about making a bad decision! Wonder what Silas Redd is thinking this morning after the beating they took last night and his coach getting a pink slip as he walked off the plane in LA? So much for his decision to go to USC being based purely on the business of making it to the NFL. Hope he’s studying to get that degree! Looks like he’s going to need it.

Louisville will be the big test.
I have been known to attend some games at Bright House Stadium, but my sources for free tickets are rapidly retiring.
I hope Redd learned his damn lesson about loyalty, life, and Lane.

If UCF can beat Louisville and Houston, they’ll get the AAC’s automatic BCS bowl bid. And, if they’re lucky enough to draw an ACC opponent, they’ll win it.
But let’s not get too excited, the Cocks are probably the 5th best team in the SEC. Still, UCF would be competing with Wisconsin for 2nd place behind tOSU.

Wait! The Nittany Lions have the best offense in the B1G, not those other two you mentioned. I read it here. Somewhere.

Well UCF lost because they learned their lesson and didn’t cheat on Saturday (6 penalties for 45 yards vs 7 for 58 yards for the ‘Cocks). Maybe they should return to the game plan they used against PS!

Cheaters never win and winners never cheat.
I was worried that if UCF won, they still would have been discredited because of that early phantom “targeting” call, in which a ‘Cock was ejected but re-erected via video review of the play. People are going to great lengths to dispute the legitimacy of UCF’s accomplishments this year.
(But we know that O’Leary hasn’t put two big seasons together back to back in the 10 years he’s been coaching UCF.)
